Questions Before You Come?

Here are the things people ask us most: about visiting, getting here, our products, the volunteer program, and what to expect. Still curious? Send us a message. Maya usually replies within 2–3 days.

Visiting & Preparation

Do I need an appointment, or can I just drop by?

Visits are by appointment only. Flow Forest Farm is a working farm and home, not a public park, so we schedule every visit to give you a proper welcome. Please reach out before you come.

What should I wear and bring?

Pack light and come ready for the outdoors: a hat, a refillable water bottle, comfortable closed shoes, and light clothes you don't mind getting muddy. During the mosquito-heavy hours, especially if you'll be wandering the grassy areas or stepping into the thick, shaded canopy and leaf litter, long sleeves and long pants will keep you comfortable.

Is the farm kid-friendly?

Yes. We welcome families and offer educational visits for ages 6–18. Children should be supervised, as it's a real farm with tools, ponds, and uneven ground.

How long is a typical visit or tour?

It depends on which experience you join. They run from a half-day to a multi-week stay:

  • Still Point (forest & river immersion): half-day
  • Day Farm Tour ("Hands in the Soil"): half- or full-day
  • Educational Visit: half- or full-day
  • Corporate Team Building: half- or full-day
  • Bonfire & Firefly Nights: overnight
  • Retreats & Workshops: several days
  • Volunteer Stay: 2 to 4 weeks

Many gatherings are woven around The Forest Table, our monthly slow food picnic potluck, and the most casual way to visit is our monthly Open Farm Day (see fees below). Check our website and Facebook page for upcoming events with visiting facilitators.

Is the farm accessible for people with limited mobility?

The farm is wild and natural. The ground is uneven and, in places, steep, which makes for a wonderfully leisurely walk rather than a paved stroll. A web of narrow footpaths winds through the land, so groups can follow single file along the trails instead of wading through the vegetation. The steepest stretch is the creek, where you'll go down one side and up the other, so come prepared for that. Tell us about any mobility needs when you book, and we'll do our best to adapt the route to suit you.

Can I bring my pet?

The whole farm is alive with cultivated crops and wild plants and animals, a delicate web we work hard to protect. For that reason, we generally ask that pets stay home, since an unfamiliar animal can easily disturb the wildlife and the gardens. If you feel you and your pet are an exception, tell us when you book and we'll gladly reconsider.

Is there a fee to visit?

It depends on how you'd like to come. To join a guided immersion, tour, retreat, or workshop, check our next scheduled gathering for its fee and details. If you'd simply like to come hang out in the kitchen garden, join our monthly Open Farm Day for ₱500, fully redeemable in farm products you harvest yourself. It's the easiest, most relaxed way to spend a day with us.

Getting There & Directions

Where exactly are you?

We're at Sitio Maligatong, Brgy. Tawan-Tawan, Baguio District, Calinan, Davao City, at the foot of Mount Tipolog, 600m ASL, tucked right above the Panigan-Tamugan river junction.

Open the Google Maps pin.

How do I get to the farm?

From downtown Davao City, the trip to Calinan takes about 1 hour 30 minutes (often less):

  1. Take a jeep or van to Calinan and get off at Gaisano Grand Mall of Calinan.
  2. Cross the Davao-Buda Highway to the Caltex station at the corner of Aurora St.
  3. From there, take a tricycle to the end of Aurora St., corner Ramon Magsaysay St., where you'll see a Phoenix station.
  4. At the Phoenix station, you'll find tricycles lined up and waiting to take passengers to Sitio Maligatong, Brgy. Tawan-Tawan.

Landmark: Flow Forest Farm is directly across from the Maligatong Birhen sa Lourdes Chapel.

Is there parking?

Yes. There's space for 2–3 small vehicles inside the main farm gate. Larger vehicles, or any beyond those first few, can park inside the side farm gate further along Bakong Road.

Products, Orders & Delivery

How do I order farm products?

Most of what we offer is harvested or made to order, so ordering is a friendly, personal process rather than a standard online checkout:

  1. Browse the Shop. Explore our seven categories: Fresh Harvest, Living Plants, Soil & Garden Inputs, Coconut Products, Wellness & Body, Pantry & Bottled, and Wood & Bamboo.
  2. Check what's in season. Availability changes with the harvest, so fresh produce is best ordered a day or two ahead, letting us harvest to your order.
  3. Pick your items. On any product, click "Order →" to open our order form and tick what you'd like.
  4. Add your details. Fill in your name, contact, when you need it, and any notes, then click "Send Order Request."
  5. Maya confirms. Within 2–3 days, she'll confirm availability, final pricing, and pickup details, then invoice you directly.
  6. Pick up at the farm. For a large bulk order, ask about delivery within Davao City when the car is available. Tip: bring your own reusable containers for soil inputs, oils, and bottled goods.

A few ready-made items skip the wait, like our soap gift sets, which you can buy and pay for instantly online with the "Buy now →" button. Everything else follows the harvest-to-order flow above, so each order reaches you as fresh as possible.

Do you deliver? Where, and is there a minimum?

We're a small farm, and our first focus is growing our own food and slow-processing it to share with guests at our Forest Table gatherings. So no, we don't deliver our farm products as a rule. The exception is a large bulk order, and even then only when our small team and the car can spare the time. We're a skeletal crew, currently in the thick of building out the farm, so there's little room for deliveries. There's no fixed minimum. Just ask, and we'll be honest about what we can manage.

The better way is to pre-order about a month ahead, then come harvest what you need yourself on one of our Open Farm Days. You're welcome to stay the whole day, hang out with the other visitors and lend a hand with light farm tasks while you're here.

Our natural artisanal fruit soaps are the one thing you don't have to wait for: you can buy the 3-piece or 6-piece soap baskets and pay online instantly.

One note on Open Farm Days: we don't publish the schedule. We send it only to (1) people who've ordered online and (2) people who've joined one of our farm experiences. Keeping it private helps us manage foot traffic and protect the farm's natural biodiversity.

What products do you sell?

Fresh harvest, garden & soil inputs, living plants, wood & bamboo, coconut products, wellness & body goods, and pantry & bottled items. Availability is seasonal. Ask what's in harvest.

Do you accept swaps or barter?

Yes! We're open to swaps and barter for seeds and seedlings. Bring something to grow and take something home. Just message us first so we can plan and possibly invite other farmers and gardeners to join us!

What's in season right now?

Our harvest rotates year-round. Tropical fruit like durian, mangosteen, lansones, rambutan, and marang are seasonal (roughly mid-to-late year), while bananas, papaya, and greens are available most of the year. Ask us for the current harvest.

The Volunteer Program

What is the volunteer program?

A hands-on working stay, not a resort break. You live on the farm, work the soil, eat what we grow, and learn regenerative practices like seed saving, soil management, composting, and food processing. Expect early mornings and real work with your hands, balanced by farm-grown meals and deep, quiet rest.

How long can I stay?

Two to four weeks. That's our minimum and our maximum per stay.

What does it cost, and what's included?

PHP 500 per night, which covers your accommodation and all your meals, made from farm produce.

How many hours will I work?

About 4–5 hours a day, five days a week. The rest of your time is yours to rest, explore, or simply be part of farm life.

What kind of work will I do?

Planting, harvesting, soil building, composting, seed saving, food processing, and caring for the food forest. The mix shifts with the season and whatever the land needs that week.

How many volunteers do you take?

Capacity is currently limited, so it's best to reach out well ahead of your preferred dates. Our future goal is to host up to 50 volunteers, once the farm's amenities are fully built out.

How do I apply?

Three simple steps:

  1. Send an inquiry. Fill in the form on our Experience page (choose "Volunteer Stay"), or email flowforestfarm@gmail.com. Tell us your preferred dates and how long you'd like to stay (2–4 weeks).
  2. Hear back from Maya. She usually replies within 2–3 days to confirm availability and send you the full volunteer agreement to read over.
  3. Sign and confirm. Sign the agreement before arrival and lock in your dates, then pack light: work clothes, boots, a hat, and your personal items.
Can I cook my own meals?

Yes. Cooking with what we grow is part of the experience. See our Farm Meals menu for the kinds of dishes you can make during your stay.

Experiences, Retreats & Groups

What experiences do you offer?

Seven ways to experience the farm:

  • Volunteer Stay: live and work on the farm for 2–4 weeks.
  • Day Farm Tour ("Hands in the Soil"): a guided half- or full-day farm immersion.
  • Retreats & Workshops: multi-day learning with visiting facilitators.
  • Corporate Team Building: real farm work, not trust falls (groups up to 100).
  • Educational Visits: hands-on farm learning for ages 6–18.
  • Still Point: a half-day forest & river immersion to slow down and reconnect.
  • Bonfire & Firefly Nights: an overnight forest camp under the stars.

Tell us what calls you and we'll tailor the experience to your group. Full details on our Experience page.

What topics do the workshops cover?

Permaculture, seed saving, soil building, and food processing, with farm meals and materials included.

Can you host corporate or large groups?

Yes. We run customized half- and full-day team-building programs for groups of up to 100, with several facilitators for larger gatherings. Tell us about your group and we'll design it.
